When I was a little guy, my California grandparents took my family to Disneyland (Anaheim).
One of my two favorite attractions was Pirates Of The Caribbean. It was brand new.
Imagine how excited I was when it was made into a movie!
It was only a few minutes into "The Curse Of The Black Pearl" when the music caught my ear.
So, as each movie in the series has been released, I have been compelled to purchase:
A blacksmith and a pirate team up to pursue a ship named "The Black Pearl."
Will Turner's aim is to rescue Elizabeth Swann, who has been kidnapped.
Jack Sparrow's aim is to take back his ship, which was commandeered by his mutinous first mate.
Lord Beckett seeks to track down and punish Jack Sparrow.
Davy Jones appears in order to claim the soul of Jack Sparrow.
Will Turner needs Jack Sparrow's help to be reunited with his father.
Lord Beckett seeks to put an end to piracy by hanging everyone associated with pirates.
Will, Elizabeth, and Jack's old crew reunite to rescue him from Davy Jones' Locker.
The nine pirate lords convene the Brethren Court to summon the help of Calypso.
King George wants Jack Sparrow to guide an expedition to find the Fountain Of Youth.
Blackbeard's daughter Angelica impersonates Jack in order to lead her own expedition.
Blackbeard needs the Fountain to save him from his predestined death by a one-legged man.
Hans Zimmer is a keyboard player whose early claim to fame was with the rock band Buggles.
Their big hit was entitled "Video Killed The Radio Star."
Its video was the first ever shown on MTV.
Zimmer went on to become one of Hollywood's most successful movie composers.
He captured the attention of the industry with his score for "Rain Man."
It was nominated for an Academy Award (a.k.a. Oscar).
He won an Oscar for "The Lion King" as well as four Grammys.
He won an Golden Globe for "The Lion King" and for "Gladiator."
He has scored over 150 movies and hasn't retired yet!
Zimmer was asked to compose the score for "The Curse Of The Black Pearl."
At the time, he was busy on another project, "The Last Samurai,"
so he handed over the bulk of the work to one of his employees, Klaus Badelt.
Badelt won an ASCAP award for the score and was nominated for three other industry awards.
He has scored more than 50 other films and founded his own studio.
When asked to compose for the "Pirates" sequels, he declined.
Hans Zimmer's name appears on the credit for all the subsequent "Pirates" movies.
He has continued the use of the original film's themes, and written new themes,
especially specific themes for major characters:
