JAMES THE LESS / THE OTHER MARY / JUDAS NOT ISCARIOT
Bible characters known by whom they are not
- James The Less is mentioned in Mark 15:40. Many translations refer to him as "James The Younger" or "James The Little." It is not clear who he was less than or younger than or smaller than. Many people equate him with the apostle James The Son Of Alphaeus, but that can't be proven by the scriptures!
- The Other Mary in Matthew 27:61 and 28:1 is being distinguished from Mary Magdalene. She's probably not the Mother Of Jesus; otherwise it would have said so? Maybe she is also distinct from Mary Of Bethany.
- Judas Not Iscariot appears in John 14:22, in a setting that includes the original apostles. Comparing the lists in Matthew 10a, Mark 3b, Luke 6c, and Acts 1d, we see that he was also know as Thaddaeus and also as Judas The Son Of James.
aThe first, Simon, who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew; and James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, the one who also betrayed Him.
bAnd He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom He gave the name Peter), James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to them He gave the name Boanerges, which means, “Sons of Thunder”); and Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite; and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.
cSimon, whom He also named Peter, and his brother Andrew; and James and John; and Philip and Bartholomew; and Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot; Judas The Son Of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
dWhen they had entered the city, they went up to the upstairs room where they were staying, that is, Peter, John, James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas The Son Of James. Note: Judas Iscariot was no longer with them at this point.
